PostingOrgasmic what?

OrgasmicBirthLOGOcmyklow_Small.jpgChildbirth can be a source of sexual pleasure, according to a controversial new documentary film coming to the UK. "The same pleasurable stimuli triggered during sex can also be released during birth," says Debra Pascali Bonaro, maker of  Orgasmic Birth. Here is a trailer for the movie, which shows women gasping and moaning as if they were in the throes of sexual ecstasy. The film is showing at the Glasgow Film Theatre on 4 June. Not very convinced with this ... can't see it ever happeneing for me ... I'd settle for an experience that didn't feel like torture!

Hi Joyfulgirl, not only are claims like this a load of hokum, but they do real damage in sending women into labour/birth completely unprepared for the pain they'll have to endure. Not to mention the subsequent changes to their bodies. It's totally irresponsible - and I don't suppose there's a single mention of episiotomies/inductions/vaginal tears in the entire movie. Making something that sounds like soft porn out of women's distress is utterly reprehensible. I don't know why I didn't just come out and say that in the original posting!

Hi Vanessa, let's hear a cheer for spinal anaethesia! Once I had my epidural in, I felt so good I fell asleep. In my defence, it had been a long old night getting that far.
