PostingReturning to work

Caught in an unflattering pose. But good ideas here on the return to work.

These are good points, BUT...

I feel it should be employers not mums who need to hear the first message. Yes, you might have organised the family finances as a mum, or you might have developed time management skills in getting the kids to school on time, but how does that sound in an interview? Let's face it, there are thousands of mums out there who do that, and then have a CV on top, to prove their financial or organisational skills in a rather more professional way.

Can you imagine going to an interview, and saying "I have time management skills, I get my kids to school on time"?

I suppose she was trying to boost your confidence if you're a mum, but I was more impressed by her 2nd and 3rd points: networking and planning.

Fair points, Iota. But it's all part of the way society undervalues parenting skills.

I used to edit a magazine. A breeze compared to the struggle to get eldest child to school on time.
