Even gargoyles get political

As the nation prepares to express its views on the finest politicians we can muster, here are some candid opinions from the gargoyles at York Minster.

Stone masons at the minster are carving the gargoyles as part of restoration work on the building. Each has a distinct character. Below left: Toothache. This guy would have taken an interest in NHS spending cuts.

Below right, a line-up of early English kings. I wonder how they would have voted. They look like Cameronites.
